We’re excited to introduce a powerful new capability in IPlytics: filtering Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) by Cellular IoT technologies, including NB-IoT, LTE-M, LTE Cat 1, and V2X. This enhancement empowers users to precisely navigate the complex SEP landscape and gain actionable insights into the technologies shaping the future of IoT.
Why This Matters
Cellular IoT standards—defined by 3GPP and declared to ETSI—are foundational to the connectivity of billions of devices across industries. However, ETSI declarations often lack specificity, making it difficult to determine which patents are truly essential to specific IoT standards.
This new feature addresses that challenge by leveraging AI-based classification and expert validation to map SEPs to the following Cellular IoT technologies:
- NB-IoT: Optimized for low-power, low-bandwidth applications like smart meters and asset tracking.
- LTE-M: Supports higher mobility and voice features for logistics and wearables.
- LTE Cat 1: Enables real-time communication for devices like payment terminals.
- V2X: Powers vehicle-to-everything communication for connected and autonomous driving.

- Select 'Search' and then select the SEPs tab in IPlytics:

In the drop down field select "Technology Standard" and input the standard you'd like to search for. Note that if more than one is required, add an additional "Technology Standard" field and use the 'OR' operator. Select 'Search':
