Overview
LexisNexis® Classification updates its classifier engine to keep pace with CPC taxonomy revisions. Standard 2026 is the updated engine used to build classifiers, and incorporates the latest CPC taxonomy updates. Classifiers built today are trained on current patent codes and better reflect recent patent filings.
Your existing classifiers are unaffected.
What changes for you
Standard 2026 is available as the default engine when building a new classifier. You'll find the engine selection in the classifier build interface under Build. If you prefer to continue using the previous engine for new builds, you can switch back from the same location.
Benefits
- More accurate classification of recent patent filings
- Reduced manual effort when building landscapes that include filings under the revised CPC taxonomy
- Applies across all technology domains
Note for PatentSight+ users
If you rebuild a classifier using Standard 2026 and that classifier is connected to a PatentSight+ sync, a re-sync will be triggered on the next cycle. If you are unsure whether this applies to your configuration, contact your account team before rebuilding the classifier.
