Selecting a Table From the Template Selection

You can select a table from the template area to make an analysis. PatentSight provides a set of tables  with preselected in vertical groupings and measures that are helpful for general analyses.

	Expand "Analysis Templates"
	Access the section "Tables."
	Select a suitable template, e.g., "Technology Cluster: Main Indicators."

Inserting a Blank Table

You can also insert a blank table via "Insert" -> "Table".

	Access "Insert" in the main tool bar
	Select "Tables" to insert a blank table

Vertical Groupings and Measures

The general setup of PatentSight's tables is shown below:

	"Edit Table" dialog (gear wheel icon) and close button.

Select, Add, or Delete Vertical Groupings and Measures

You can select suitable vertical groupings and measures via the "Edit Table" dialog. You will find a complete List of groupings and a list of measures in the knowledge base.

	Click on the gear wheel icon to open the table settings.
	Click on the corresponding plus icon to add a vertical grouping or measure.
	Click on the trash bin icon to remove a vertical grouping or measure.
	Search for a suitable vertical grouping or measure.
	Alternatively, select a suitable vertical grouping or measure from an appropriate category.

Sorting and Arranging Vertical Groupings and Measures

You can sort and arrange vertical groupings and measures according to your preference. You can sort the table by any column, delete columns directly from the table, or add bars to some measures. 

	Click on a column title.
	Sort the column ascending or descending.
	Display or hide data bars and adjust the color of the data bars (measures only).
	Click on the trash bin icon to delete the entire column.
	Calculate corresponding shares (numeric measures only).

You can adjust the order of the vertical groupings and measures by dragging and dropping them either directly in the table or in the "Edit Table" dialog.

	Drag and drop a measure in the "Edit Table" dialog to place it between two other measures
	Drag and drop a column to place it between two other columns.

Note: Vertical groupings can only be arranged within the "Vertical Groupings" section. Measures can only be arranged within the "Measures" section. It is not possible to drag a measure into the "Vertical Groupings" section or a vertical grouping into the "Measures" section.

Adding Vertical Groupings to the Search Panel 

You can drag and drop items from any chart or table into the search panel, thereby adding them to your search query. 

	Click on the checkmark icon to expand the checkbox column.
	Tick the corresponding checkboxes to select the data rows you want to focus your analysis on.
	Drag and drop rows selected into the search panel. This will add all vertical groupings used in the table with the items from the respective rows to the search query.
